DAQI Technology Partners with SMM on the 2027 Global Copper Mines and Smelters Map

Shanghai Metals Market (SMM) recently announced its collaboration with Chengdu Daqi Technology Joint Stock Co., Ltd. on the 2027 SMM Global Copper Mines and Smelters Map, a bilingual industry map designed to connect copper mines, smelters, equipment suppliers and other companies across the copper value chain.

For DAQI Technology, the collaboration creates another opportunity to engage with the copper and nonferrous metals industries, where sulfur-containing flue gas treatment and deeper SO₂ control remain important environmental engineering challenges.

Connecting with the Global Copper Mining and Smelting Industry

According to an announcement published by Shanghai Metals Market on September 24, 2026, SMM and Chengdu Daqi Technology Joint Stock Co., Ltd. are inviting copper mining companies, copper smelters, equipment suppliers and other industry participants to contribute to the bilingual 2027 SMM Global Copper Mines and Smelters Map.

The initiative brings together companies across the copper value chain and provides an industry platform for greater technical and commercial exchange.

For DAQI Technology, participating in the initiative is particularly relevant because nonferrous metallurgy is one of the industrial sectors where flue gas composition, sulfur recovery and emission control need to be considered as an integrated process.

From Copper Smelting to SO₂ Control

Copper, lead, zinc and other nonferrous metal smelting processes can generate sulfur-containing gas streams at different stages of production. Depending on the process, these gases may pass through sulfuric acid production and subsequent tail-gas treatment before final discharge.

The conditions are rarely identical from one plant to another. Gas flow, SO₂ concentration, temperature, moisture, particulate loading, sulfuric acid mist and other components can all influence the selection of a suitable treatment process.

DAQI Technology has been developing carbon-based catalytic materials and industrial flue gas treatment technologies for these types of applications. Its catalytic flue gas desulfurization technology is designed for SO₂ removal under suitable industrial conditions at approximately 40–180°C.

Rather than relying solely on physical adsorption, the process combines SO₂ adsorption and catalytic oxidation. SO₂ reacts with O₂ and H₂O within the catalyst system to form sulfuric acid, which can subsequently be removed through water washing, allowing the catalyst to be regenerated and reused.

Expanding Technical Exchange in Nonferrous Metallurgy

The SMM report also introduces DAQI Technology’s work in innovative air-pollution-control materials, catalytic ultra-low-emission technologies, bamboo biomass utilization and R&D platform development.

Over the years, DAQI has continued to develop catalytic materials, reactors, regeneration systems and integrated processes for industrial SO₂ and NOx control. Carbon-based catalytic desulfurization has been explored for sulfuric acid production, coking, nonferrous metallurgy, industrial boilers and other sulfur-containing industrial gas streams.

In nonferrous smelting applications, the suitability of a catalytic desulfurization process needs to be evaluated against actual operating conditions. Parameters such as inlet SO₂ concentration, gas flow, temperature, moisture, particulate matter, acid mist and the required outlet concentration are important inputs for catalyst and process design.

Bringing Functional Carbon Materials Closer to Industrial Applications

From mining and smelting to downstream processing, the copper industry continues to face practical requirements related to emissions control, resource recovery and lower-carbon production.

DAQI Technology’s participation in the 2027 SMM Global Copper Mines and Smelters Map provides an additional channel for understanding these industry requirements and strengthening technical exchange with companies across the copper value chain.

Looking ahead, DAQI will continue its work on carbon- and bamboo-based functional materials, catalytic desulfurization, low-temperature SCR DeNOx and integrated industrial flue gas treatment, with a focus on matching material performance and process design to real operating conditions.
